Writing take away with numbers
We write taking away as a number sentence too. Fill in what is left!
7 − 2 = 5
9 − 4 = 5
10 − 6 = 4
8 − 5 = 3
A subtraction sentence uses − and =. Read it: ‘seven minus two equals five’. In Year 1 you write these yourself. The answer is always how many are left.
