At the Shop

Buying things with money

At the shop, we pay with coins. Let’s buy something and work out the money!
🍎 An apple costs 8p. You pay with a 10p coin. How much change?
10p− 8p =2p change
At a shop you pay and get change if you gave too much. An apple is 8p, you pay 10p, so change is 2p (10 − 8). Working out change uses subtraction — really useful for real-life shopping!
